People moves: Penguin taps two

The Penguin Group (USA) has appointed Don Weisberg as president of Penguin Young Readers Group, while former president of the division Doug Whiteman moves into the newly hatched role of EVP of business operations, Penguin Group (USA).

The Penguin Group (USA) has appointed Don Weisberg as president of Penguin Young Readers Group, while former president of the division Doug Whiteman moves into the newly hatched role of EVP of business operations, Penguin Group (USA).

Weisberg was formerly EVP and COO North America at Random House and is charged with identifying other platform opportunities for Penguin’s book-based brands.

Whiteman will be working on global initiatives and will maintain a day-to-day role in the business affairs of the Young Readers division. Before becoming President of Penguin Young Readers Group in 1997, Whiteman previously held a number of executive positions on the adult and juvenile sectors during his more than 25-year tenure with the company.
