Would-be animators have three weeks to submit their entries for The 2008 Teletoon Animation Scholarship.

All applicants will have the opportunity to have their work evaluated by a panel of industry professionals, a chance to win one of 12 awards and get a screen slot at the 2008 Ottawa International Animation Festival.

Now in its 11th year, the scholarship program has awarded more than US$290,000 to aspiring Canadian animators.

There is no shortage of success stories from the scholarship’s past including 1997 winner Sylvain Lavoie who is now the co-director of the new Teletoon comedy Fred’s Head, which airs Sunday evenings at 8 p.m. Most Promising Student winner in 2002, Jason Martinsen has worked as a character animator on the Sony PlayStation 2 games Jak II, Jak III and Jak X as well as big-screen fare such as Ice Age: The Meltdown, Horton Hears a Who and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs at Blue Sky Studios.
