Toy titan Hasbro has inked a deal with IDW Publishing to launch an all-new line of G.I. Joe vs. Cobra comic books.

As part of the agreement, IDW will produce a new monthly comic series, as well as deluxe reprints from the G.I. Joe comic library. IDW has also picked up the rights for trade paperbacks and graphic novels.

The first products based on the classic G.I. Joe vs. Cobra storyline will be launched with an introductory debut issue in October.

IDW is also producing a comic book series based on the upcoming G.I. Joe live-action flick from Paramount Pictures and Hasbro slated for an August 7, 2009 release.

The projects will be distributed to a wide audience through comic book outlets, trade bookstores and mass retailers.
