DIC Entertainment has taken on the relaunch of the 1960s fashion doll and brand Penny Brite by Charisma Brands.

DIC will create two merchandising programs for Penny Brite, including a retro line for girls and collectors, featuring apparel, publishing, music, gifts, novelties and more. DIC also has a home entertainment program in the works that will be supported by licensing initiatives across major categories.

DIC anticipates launching the retro line in 2009, with a subsequent home entertainment and merchandising launch in 2010.

Originally produced in the 1960s by Deluxe Reading/Topper Toy Company, Penny Brite was marketed as a fashion doll with a more wholesome appeal.
