Universal Studios picks up Dragonology rights

Universal Studios has picked up feature film rights for Dugald A. Steer's bestselling book Dragonology: The Complete Book of Dragons.

Universal Studios has picked up feature film rights for Dugald A. Steer’s bestselling book Dragonology: The Complete Book of Dragons.

First published in the UK in 2003 by Templar and in the US by Candlewick Press, Dragonology and has sold more than 2.8 million copies across 32 different languages worldwide. Subsequent titles, including novelizations of the multimedia original, have helped push total sales for all Dragonology titles to more than 5.7 million copies.

No financial terms or release date for the film were disclosed, however, screenwriter Leonard Hartman has already begun to work on the film treatment. The Paul Kohner Agency and Richard Scrivener negotiated the deal.
