French network Canal + used the occasion of the Annecy animation festival last week to announce a formal request for proposals for new animated projects for its 2009/10 broadcast season.
The net is looking for any animated series between 39 and 50 eps comprised of three- to seven-minutes segments, targeting a family audience with a heavy emphasis on humor and an original visual style.
All tender documents should include a style guide with main characters, concept, bible, storyboards, synopses for five eps and an estimated budget.
The net will commission 10 pilots from the submissions and then co-produce the best project as a series. Deadline for proposal submission is October 20. The 10 pilot projects will be selected by December 2008, with the series being named in June 2009.
Prodcos interested in forwarding a proposal should contact Sophie Boé (sophie.boe@canal-plus.com) or send the package to her attention addressed ‘Appel à Projets Les Nouveaux Cartoons’ Pôle Jeunesse, 5/13 Boulevard de la République 92100, Boulogne-Billancourt.
