London-based prodco Serious Lunch has acquired the international series and format rights to Dot to Dot’s factual CBBC program Art Ninja.

Serious Lunch aims to produce local versions of the popular 10 x half-hour comedy series for other markets worldwide.

It’s currently expanding the global presence of CBBC-commissioned factual kids series Operation Ouch!, which now has three local versions in northern Europe, airs on Australia’s ABC3 and is headed to Discovery Asia, Noga Israel and Ultra TV in former Yugoslavia.

Art Ninja follows real-life Aardman animator Ricky Martin around his home town of Bristol, England, as he teaches kids to make art anywhere, from any household item.

Produced by Nick Hutchings and executive produced by Dot to Dot founder Jo Killingley and CBBC’s Hugh Lawton, the series was commissioned by CBBC last summer.

The deal comes on the heels of CBeebies ordering Dot to Dot’s brand-new hybrid preschool sport series Footy Pups last week.
