Hasbro reports double-digit gains in Q2

Toy giant Pawtucket, Rhode Island Hasbro reported Q2 net revenues of US$784.3 million, an increase of 13% compared to US$691.4 million a year ago.

Toy giant Pawtucket, Rhode Island Hasbro reported Q2 net revenues of US$784.3 million, an increase of 13% compared to US$691.4 million a year ago.

In the US and Canada segment net revenues for Q2 were US$467.7 million, an increase of US$45.8 million or 11% compared to US$421.9 million in 2007.

Brian Goldner, president and CEO of the company, attributed the growth to star properties Indiana Jones, Star Wars and the Marvel universe, as well as growth in core brands, including Nerf, G.I. Joe, Easy-Bake Oven and board games such as Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit.

International segment net revenues for the quarter were US$293.7 million, a US$38.5 million (or 15%) bump up from last year’s numbers. The revenues include a positive foreign exchange impact of approximately US$23.4 million or 9%.
