Lionsgate has acquired the home entertainment distribution rights for the new animated series Wolverine & The X-Men from Marvel Entertainment.

Under the agreement, Lionsgate retains US home distribution rights to all 26 eps of the co-pro between Toonz Entertainment and First Serve International.

The deal builds upon the Marvel-Lionsgate for original animated direct-to-DVD features based upon specific characters in the Marvel Universe that was originally signed in 2004.

The series will air on Nicktoons Network beginning in January 2009.
