Fuhu is truly thinking big with its new line of products. The tablet maker has unveiled a line of TV-sized tablets designed to strike a chord with today’s touchscreen generation—and their parents.
The company’s latest offering is a line of nabi Big Tabs that come in 32-inch, 43-inch, 55-inch and 65-inch (pictured) versions. Expected to hit US retail later this year, the 55-incher goes for US$2,449, while the 65-inch will retail for US$4,000. They’re the latest models in the Big Tab line, which debuted last fall. The “smallest” model, the 20-inch version, has an SRP of US$399.
Running the latest Android software, the new Big Tabs can be wall-mounted for easier use. The 55- and 65- inch versions come with Ultra HD resolution, wifi, Bluetooth, near-field communications (NFC) compatibility and HDMI inputs. The extra-large screens are designed for multiplay, as well as creativity and art-based apps.
As a part of Fuhu’s goal to corner the market on digitizing the family home, the tablets will offer new adult-geared apps for shopping, cooking, sports and other interests, as well as full access to the Google Play store.
Along with the Big Tabs, the company is introducing a new family wireless plan called “nabi Anywhere,” cellular-connected tablets and its own line of kids phones.
Fuhu also has big plans for its new content subscription service, nabi Pass. According to the company, it is finalizing deals with a number of new partners to expand nabi Pass in 2015, and developing original series and content for rollout later this year.
The new digital offerings mark a major product expansion for Fuhu, as it grows beyond manufacturing traditional handheld devices and accessories. In 2014, the tablet maker was named the #1 Fastest Growing Company in North America in the Computer/Peripheral category by Deloitte’s 2014 Technology 500 list. The company also earned accolades from Forbes, which named Fuhu the #1 Most Promising Company in America.
