According to research firm The NPD Group, Nintendo DS and Wii have once again topped hardware sales lists last month.

In August, more than 514,000 portable Nintento DS systems were sold in the US, bringing total sales to nearly 22 million units. In the same month, more than 448,000 Wii consoles were sold in the US, bringing total sales of the unit to nearly 12 million.

Also according to the report, five games made for Nintendo systems placed in the top 10 bestselling games of the month, including Wii Fit at number four with nearly 395,000 units sold, Mario Kart Wii closing in on 329,000 sales, Wii Play at number six with more than 200,000 sold, Madden NFL 09 All-Play for Wii at number nine with nearly 116,000 sold and Guitar Hero: On Tour for Nintendo DS at number 10 with more than 111,000 sold.
