Canada’s Nelvana Enterprises will bring a briefcase full of content in various stages of development to Cannes later this month.

Based on a book series, Scaredy Squirrel is a 26 x half-hour animated series that features an obsessive-compulsive hero and is based on the bestselling picture book series by Melanie Watt. The series will be produced by Nelvana Studios in 2009.

The company will also be shopping aroundBeing Ian: an Ian-conveient truth a co-pro with Studio B Productions in association with YTV, and distributed by Nelvana Enterprises, set to release this fall. The one-hour movie for kids six to 11 features environmentalist David Suzuki.

Other new projects in development at Nelvana include Skull Kids, a CGI series developed with Korean studio Enemes, about heroic creatures striving to master their shapes and superpowers; Sidekick, about a school for sidekicks of superheroes; and The Academy, a live-action teen musical program about street musicians.
