Canada’s Corus Entertainment-owned preschool net Treehouse  has set a premiere date for the CGI-animated series Trucktown. The new show will roll out on September 6, via the 24-hour channel.

The series (80 x 11 minutes) follows a group of lively young trucks as they smash and crash their way through Trucktown.

Produced by Corus’s Nelvana Studio, the new show is based on the hit books by kids author Jon Scieszka, whose other titles include The Stinky Cheese Man and other Fairly Stupid Tales and The Time Warp Trio.

Prior to Trucktown’s TV debut, kids can visit trucktown.com for a preview of the series as well as new games and activities. A week after Trucktown’s debut, Scieszka will be on hand at Treehouse’s new family event, Treehouse Big Day Out, to introduce an episode of the show.

Scieszka originally wrote the Trucktown series to get more boys interested in reading, creating the rough-and-tumble world of Trucktown to appeal to this demographic. His book series, published by Simon & Schuster, now includes more than 50 titles and has sold more than one million copies worldwide. The latest book in the series, Race from A to Z, is set to be released this fall.
