Tween-oriented video social network Viddiverse has formed a partnership with Pencils of Promise, a global charity dedicated to improving the quality of education for kids in the developing world.

Kicking off this month, the initiative will see Viddiverse donate one dollar for every tween that signs up for the social network using credit card verification. Previously, to sign up kids for the network parents would have a one dollar registration fee on their credit card, which Viddiverse would later deduct. As of this week, the social network will instead donate that dollar to the kids education charity.

Founded in 2008, Pencils of Promise is a non-profit that creates sustainable education programs for kids. It builds schools, trains teachers and provides scholarships for students.

The new partnership reinforces Viddiverse’s core values of charity and social responsibility. The web-based social video network launched earlier this year. It gives kids ages eight to 13 a COPPA-compliant environment to watch shows like Totally Amp’d and Unlikely Heroes. Most recently, the social network struck a distribution deal with Santa Monica, California-based Haul Studios to bring aboard the You Tube fashion and makeup mavens Brittany Balyn and Kimberly Bond.
