Pretty princesses, swashbuckling pirates and sassy talking cars beware, as The Avengers will supercharge the gaming experience of Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes this fall.

Flying, hovering and even climbing walls (think The Hulk) are some new character features that have been added to the 2.0 version of the toys-to-life game. The level cap of playable characters has also been expanded from Level 15 to Level 20, and players will now be able to use a Skill Tree to upgrade a character’s abilities.

The Toy Box has been improved and enhanced with editor tools such as in-game brushes that will automatically create cities, dungeons and race tracks. In addition, all characters and power discs from last year’s Disney Infinity will be compatible with the Toy Box.

Iron Man, Thor and Black Widow will be bundled with the game’s starter pack, while Captain America, Hulk and Hawkeye will be sold separately. Additional play sets, power discs and more than a dozen characters from other popular Marvel and Disney franchises will be announced in the coming months. The game (US$74.99) will be available on PlayStation4 and PlayStation3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, the WiiU, PC and iOS tablets and smartphones.

“When we were challenged in 2010 to create the ‘next big thing’ by our then new president John Pleasants, we wanted something that would live on forever and not be just another one-off videogame or tied to the commercial success of a movie,” explains John Vignocchi, executive producer, Disney Infinity.

Fast forward to 25 million toys and 10 million Toy Box downloads later, and the result is a hot toys-to-life category that has grown 79% year over year and created a platform for all things Disney, including Disney XD, ESPN, ABC Family and now Marvel and Lucasfilm.

Also exciting for the House of Mouse and partner Harmonix Music Systems is Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved, a musical motion videogame inspired by the classic film Fantasia. Players enter the magical realms of Fantasia as the apprentice of legendary sorcerer Yen Sid and interact with themed areas that contain a variety of musical toys, places to explore and songs to complete.

The game features more than 30 tracks including contemporary hits, classic rock and classical music in interactive landscapes such as The Capsule (a modular space station), The Hollow and The Haven (forest environments). The space realm will feature Elton John’s “Rocket Man” and Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” as playable songs.  It will be available on Xbox One and Kinect for Xbox 360 in the fall.
