UK licensing agent Lisle International has paired up with children’s publisher Egmont UK to launch a publishing program based on the successful app-based Temple Run franchise.

The deal will see Egmont create a range of titles spanning fiction, eBooks, activity books, annuals and non-fiction magazines from summer 2014 on.

Egmont’s Temple Run fiction books will feature “choose your own adventure” stories, while its activity books will include puzzle and game content based on Temple Run’s endless runner format and additional top kids app brands.

Since Washington, D.C.-based developer Imangi Studios debuted the app in August 2011, it has expanded into apparel, publishing, digital comics, and card and board games, thanks to deals by US-based Dimensional Branding Group, Lisle for the UK and Europe, Wild Pumpkin in Australia and Empire Multimedia in China.

After Temple Run 2 was released in January 2013, it set a record of more than 50 million downloads in 13 days. To date, the original Temple Run and its sequel have been downloaded more than 500 million times combined.
