The My Nick Junior App, a new personal on-demand programming service from Nickelodeon that’s set for a US launch in the coming months, is now available to more than two million Virgin Media TiVo homes in the UK.
The commercial-free personal programming – which made waves when it was first announced last month – is an interactive TV platform that lets parents program a customized playlist for their preschool child. Shows can be curated according to developmental themes, and kids are given the chance to rank their favorite episodes. The Nick Jr. app then learns the preferences of the child and chooses episodes to play accordingly. Parents may elect to be sent emails summarizing what their children have watched and which topics have been covered within the viewed episodes.
Overall, My Nick Jr. features 650 Nick Jr. episodes, including hits like Dora the Explorer, Bubble Guppies, Tickety Toc and Dinosaur Train.
The concept was initially launched in France on CanalSat in 2013 and will roll out in the US on Verizon’s FiOS TV, with more international launches taking place later this year.
