Popular Japanese animated kids series LBX (Little Battlers eXperience) will be introduced to American viewers for the first time when it premieres on Nicktoons later this year.

The Akihiro Hino-created series, currently being adapted for the Americas by Santa Monica-based animation developer and licensor Dentsu Entertainment USA (Chub City), has been hugely successful on Japan’s TV Tokyo where more than 100 episodes have aired on its prime time programming block since debuting in March 2011.

LBX is set in the year 2050 and follows the adventures of a young boy and his group of friends who are thrust into the increasingly dangerous world of robot battles with their customizable, miniature LBX robots.

In addition, the IP’s toy partner Bandai America has just unveiled the first line of LBX construction toys at Toy Fair 2014 this week. The line features action figure model kits called SprüKits.
