Looking to make a splash on the animation scene, French entrepreneur Jeremy Zag created Paris-based media prodco Univergroup and animation subsidiary Zagtoon to oversee film and TV production, with Zagtoon dedicated to producing animated programs for the international market.

Zag tapped animation vet Jacqueline Tordjman, who’s worked for 25 years with Haim Saban, and has production credits on Inspector Gadget, and Combo Ninos.

Univergroup already has six series in the pipe, two developed internally and two are licences that have been inked with cartoon publisher Europa Glenat (Tcho-Titeuf) and two are co-pros with animation studios in France and abroad.

Already in pre-production are Sweet Power, a series about heroes with magical vitamin powers who combat the Glucido minions to thwart their plans to get rich by hypnotizing children to get them addicted to sugar and sweets; Transylmaniak, in which Dracula’s son learns how to become a true human being, and Rosie a cheeky girl who pesters others when she’s bored are already. Pilots will be available at MIPCOM.
