Following In the Night Garden‘s debut on China’s pubcaster CCTV last week, BBC Worldwide has tapped UYoung to rep the property in the country; it’s also announced several new merch deals in the territory.

You You Xing Media, a branch of UYoung Media, will publish ITNG magazines (approximately US$0.95) in Chinese starting on June 1, with an initial print run of 150,000 copies, increasing to 500,000 with subsequent issues.

Also on the publishing front, BBC Children’s Books has brought on Children’s Fun as the property’s Chinese publisher, which currently licenses the Teletubbies. It’ll be launching eight Mandarin-language storybook titles with activity books and other publishing beginning in 2010.

And Excel Media, an existing BBCW Charlie & Lola licensee, is the ITNG’s DVD partner. Product will debut in June with two titles and an initial production run of 5,000 copies. An additional two titles should be released every month thereafter.
