Children’s app developer Toca Boca, the company behind open-ended play apps like Toca Tailor, is growing with the acquisition of Toronto-based zinc Roe and its Tickle Tap app series. The name of the 10-person company will change from zinc Roe to Sago Sago.

zinc Roe founder Jason Krogh will serve as the CEO of the Sago Sago studio,  which will remain in Toronto and stand as Toca Boca Swedish parent company Bonnier AB’s first entrance into the Canadian market.

The Tickle Tap apps are designed for kids ages two to four and include the popular Doodlecast for Kids app, which records voices as the user draws.  In addition to the Tickle Tap app series, zinc Roe’s development team has created websites, games and activities for kids and youth including the Zimmer Twins, Stella and Sam Interactive Adventures, Toot and Puddle games, and the children’s site for the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
