Cartoon Network ramped up its Halloween-themed programming last week to ratings and delivery growth this year, while Disney’s Phineas and Ferb and SpongeBob at Nick continued to haul in viewers.
Scary Godmother 2: The Revenge of Jimmy aired at 6 p.m. on October 30 on Cartoon Network US, ratcheting up delivery with kids two to 11 (1,062,000) by 126%, kids six to 11 delivery (665,000) by 61% and kids nine to 14 (419,000) by 14%. An encore telecast of live-action comedy-thriller Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins upped delivery with kids two to 11 (1,087,000) by 232%, kids six to 11 (671,000) by 174% and kids nine to 14 delivery (447,000) by 139%.
Later at 9 p.m., a new one-hour ep of The Othersiders, drew in kids two to 11 (658,000) up by 21%, kids six to 11 (468,000) by 10% and kids nine to 14 (452,000) by 49%.
Meanwhile, Disney Channel had TV’s top 11 telecasts and 18 of the top 20 during the week of October 26, thanks to new eps of Wizards of Waverly Place, Phineas and Ferb and Sonny With A Chance.
Phineas was TV’s number-one series in kids six to 11 and tops with tweens nine to 14. In the tween demo, DC had TV’s top eight regularly scheduled series including Phineas at the top, followed by The Suite Life of Zack & Cody (#2), Wizards (#3), Sonny (#4), The Suite Life on Deck (#5) and Hannah Montana (#6).
With kids six to 11, the kidnet held TV’s top four regularly scheduled series with Phineas (#1), Zack & Cody (#2), Wizards (#3) and The Suite Life on Deck (#4). Among the preschool set (ages two to five), Playhouse Disney series Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (#7) and Handy Manny (#10) found homes in the week’s top 10 TV series.
Over at Nickelodeon, SpongeBob SquarePants finished the week of October 26 at number one with kids two to 11 and total viewers, thanks to the ep ‘Scaredy Pants/I was a Teenage Gary,’ which aired on Saturday, October 31 at 9:30 a.m. ET/PT. It ranked as the top show for the week with kids two to 11, and as the number-one animated kids’ program with 4.3 million total viewers.
Nick Jr.’s hour-long primetime airing of ‘Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom’ on Sunday, November 1 (8 p.m. ET/PT) drew in 2.1 million total viewers, seeing triple-digit gains versus last year’s like time period with key demos averaging a 5.4/759,000 (up 218%) rating.
Nicktoons has also been seeing some healthy numbers with double- and triple-digit year-over-year gains, averaging a 0.4/46,000 kids six to 11 (up 33%), a 0.5/33,000 boys six to 11 (up 25%), a 0.3/33,000 tweens nine to 14 (up 50%) and a 0.4/26,000 boys nine to 14 (up 100%).
