Toronto, Canada-based 9 Story Entertainment is kicking off production on its new live-action movie Harriet the Spy, based on the kidlit series by Louise Fitzhugh.
It’s set to premiere in 2010 on Disney Channels Worldwide and CBC, MC and YTV in Canada, with Wizards of Waverly Place star Jennifer Stone tapped for the lead role of Harriet. The movie is directed by Ron Oliver (A Dennis the Menace Christmas, Goosebumps) from a script by Heather Conkie (Heartland) and her daughter Alexandra Clarke. Blake McGrath (So You Think You Can Dance) will choreograph.
Harriet the Spy is executive produced by 9 Story Entertainment’s Vince Commisso, Steve Jarosz and Natalie Osborne. 2 Friends Entertainment principals, Nancy Steingard and Wendy Moss-Klein will also serve as executive producers.
