Looking to showcase academic achievement in the Massachusetts area, Boston pubcaster WGBH has entered into production on a new weekly TV competition.

High School Quiz Show, slated for a March 2010 delivery, features up to 144 students from 24 schools in Massachusetts, competing in teams and head-to-head as they answer questions lifted from the State high school curriculum, covering all subject areas.

It will begin taping at WGBH’s Brighton studios in January in front of a live audience of school supporters who will cheer on their home teams as they head vie for a spot in the championship round in June. WGBH’s Hillary Wells is on board as producer, with major production support for the series provided by the University of Massachusetts. R&D funding comes from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, with additional funding from Comcast and Massachusetts Teachers Association.
