New kids JV channel forms in Portugal

Panda Biggs is the newest JV channel on the block, as Chello Multicanal and Zon Multimédia join forces to form a new company, Dreamia, which will own the channel.

Dreamia, based in Lisbon, will produce, market and distribute children’s movie and entertainment channels in Portugal and Portuguese-speaking Africa. Eduardo Zulueta, MD of Chello, will serve as the JV’s chairman, while Antunes João, CEO of Zon Lusomundo Audiovisuais, will serve as CEO.

Panda Biggs aims to target pre-teens ages eight to 14 years old and will offer animation, drama and in-house productions featuring reports on music, sports, and trends, alongside international acquisitions such as Blue Dragon and Digimon Tamers.It’ll reflect the lives of Portuguese children, their interests and their educational development.

Following this launch, Dreamia will manage and broadcast four TV channels: Panda, Panda Biggs, Hollywood, and MOV. Chello Multicanal is reselling the channels on behalf of Dreamia in Portugal, and Zon is acting as the reseller in Portuguese-speaking Africa for MOV, Hollywood, Panda and Panda Biggs. All the channels will be available on a non exclusive basis to all platforms in the targeted territories.
