Scottish indie Move On Up is set to produce a 26 x 14-minute live-action family drama for CBeebies based on Mairi Hedderwick’s popular Katie Morag book series.

Katie Morag, which will be shot on location in the Scottish Highlands and air in late 2013, will follow the adventures of a little red-headed girl who lives with her family on the magical Scottish Island of Struay. The feisty title character often gets out of jams in funny ways with the help of her grandmothers.

Move on Up’s Lindy Cameron will executive produce the new series with Sara Harkins and Michael Towner for CBeebies. BBC Scotland and Creative Scotland have also thrown their support behind the series.
