TRC Family Entertainment, a new Malta-based multi-platform company targeting kids and parents, has launched with former Disney Consumer Products chairman Andy Mooney joining the venture as co-chairman.

Also sharing joint chairman duties is Chris Deering, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s president from 1995 to 2003, while Paul Taylor, who was most recently Jetix Europe’s CEO for six years and a member of Disney’s European management board, is now TRC’s CEO.

With nearly 100 employees, TRC aims to focus on creating digital media, virtual worlds, books, music, games, merchandise, TV and films for kids and families.

During his 12-year tenure (1999 through 2011) as chairman of Disney Consumer Products, Mooney helped launch Disney English language learning centers in mainland China and created two of Disney’s largest franchises, Disney Princess and Fairies.
