Toys ‘R’ Us has released the 2012 edition of its Guide for Differently-Abled Kids, a complimentary resource that helps parents and friends of children with physical and cognitive disabilities purchase toys that suit their developmental needs.
Currently available in all Toys ‘R’ Us and Babies ‘R’ Us locations across the US and online, in both English and Spanish, the new guide features TV host and philanthropist Nancy O’Dell (pictured) with eight-year-old Saskia Vogt, who has Down Syndrome.
The 64-page guide highlights more than 100 different toys which are evaluated and selected with input from the National Lekotek Center, an independent, not-for-profit organization serving children with disabilities.
In addition, the guide includes parental tips for buying toys and safe play tips for children with special needs.
Toys ‘R’ Us is also leveraging its social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest to offer product highlights, tips, toy trivia and behind-the-scenes footage and photos from the cover shoot throughout the year.
