Toronto-based E1 Entertainment has inked a production and development deal with legendary rock band KISS.

Collaborating with founding members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, E1 is set to create a half-hour kids comedy series that brings the band’s iconic personas to a new generation of fans.

The 37-year-old leather-clad, makeup-sporting band’s has maintained its presences with young audiences through various licensing deals and TV appearances. Most recently KISS appeared at Super Bowl XLIV and took a turn on the American Idolfinale in 2009, which reached more than 30 million viewers.

The as-yet untitled series will be produced and distributed worldwide by E1. Executive Producers are John Morayniss and Frank Saperstein for E1 Entertainment and Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of KISS. E1 and KISS will handle all licensing and merchandise for the series.

Notably, this isn’t Simmons’ first foray into kids entertainment. He was involved in the creation and production of Nelvana’s My Dad the Rock Star, which first aired on Canadian animation net Teletoon in 2004.
