HarperCollins UK and Australia are boosting their YA portfolios, snagging global rights to Mercy, the new young adult supernatural four-book series from Melbourne-based author Rebecca Lim.
HC Australia will handle translation rights while HCUK is managing US rights as well as film, TV and merch rights. In Germany, publisher Ravensburger won the rights at auction with a six-figure offer for the series.
The first book in the series will publish simultaneously in Australia and the UK this November and revolves around Mercy, an exiled angel cast out after taking Lucifer’s side in the great celestial battle. In each book she will assume a new human persona and be tasked with solving a series of mysteries as she seeks atonement to win back her place in the heavens.
Rebecca Lim has written seven books for children and young adult readers, most recently the Whiffy Newton series.
