Karen Miller has been bumped up to executive director of worldwide programming strategy, acquisitions and co-productions at Disney Channels Worldwide, including Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior.

Miller, who joined Disney Channels Worldwide in February 2011 as its director of acquisitions and co-productions, will report to Paul DeBenedittis, Disney Channels Worldwide SVP of programming, scheduling, multi-platform, acquisitions and co-productions.

In her new role, Miller will be tasked with executing the development of all scheduling strategies aligning local and regional programming plans with global priorities. In addition, she will be responsible for global acquisitions sourcing live-action and animated series and movies for Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior, as well as guide co-production opportunities.

Prior to Disney, Miller oversaw the development, production and distribution of Atlantyca Entertainment’s animated series Geronimo Stilton, and was animation associate producer on the 20th Century Fox feature film, The Simpsons Movie. She also has 18 years at Warner Bros. under her belt, last serving as VP of property acquisitions for consumer products.

The move comes on the heels of the March 23 Disney Channels Worldwide debut of US 24/7 preschool net Disney Junior, and last month’s announcement of Disney’s new programming slate.
