In a move to help children develop literacy skills through mobile technologies, Sesame Workshop has branched further into the app world by launching two interactive book apps for Nokia Symbian smartphones.
In 100th Day of School, Elmo engages children on every page by speaking and asking questions as they touch the screen and kids can interact with other characters including Zoe and Abby Cadabby. Big Block Party, meanwhile, lets children bring favorite snacks to a Sesame street party, and kids, with parental guidance, can customize their own snacks with recipes included in the app. Both apps also feature read-aloud adult narration and text highlighting to help beginning readers.
Sesame also recently launched a new Elmo app for the iPhone and iPod touch.
