The Scaredy Squirrel publishing franchise, which has sold more than one million print books, has made its foray into eBooks and apps following a partnership between Corus Entertainment’s Kids Can Press and Open Road Integrated Media.

The first two Scaredy Squirrel books are now available as color eBooks, and Kids Can Press has released the first Scaredy Squirrel iPhone game app, entitled Scaredy SOS. The eBooks are available from the Apple iBookstore, Kobo Books and Barnes & Noble Nook and feature read-along audio. An interactive e-book version is also available on the iBookstore that features animation and audio.

Created by Canadian children’s book author and illustrator Melanie Watt, the Scaredy Squirrel book collection has become Kids Can Press’ most popular series to date.

This isn’t the first children’s eBook from Open Road. The digital publisher and content company has adapted brands like The Boxcar Children, Mr. Popper’s Penguins and Franklin for tablet and mobile devices.
