LA-based production company Kartoon Studios has taught kids about financial literacy, and now it’s aiming to introduce them to the very technical world of Bitcoin with a new series in development.
Bitcoin Brigade: Adventures in Satoshi City (pictured) is a 2D-animated adventure concept that focuses on a group of super-powered kids who hunt for treasure. Aspects of their quests, like solving puzzles and protecting their loot, are meant to mirror parts of the Bitcoin economy.
Bitcoin Brigade is set to launch on the company’s Kartoon Channel! AVOD platform in fall 2026, before rolling out on its YouTube Kids channel (238,000 subscribers).
Kartoon Studios plans to build this series into a franchise spanning educational resources, merch and an e-commerce store called the Satoshi Sparks Rewards System, where kids will be able to earn Bitcoins called Sparks by watching episodes and completing puzzles. They can then use this digital currency to buy exclusive merchandise and collectibles. To launch this platform, the company has partnered with Switzerland-based Bitcoin company Bitkern, which will also help guide the series development and franchise strategy.
It’s been a while since Bitcoin and cryptocurrency have bubbled up in the kids entertainment industry—partly because the tech is quite abstract and complicated—so here’s a quick refresher. Very simply, Bitcoin is a digital currency that exists on a decentralized network that’s not governed by a government or a bank. It’s the best-known cryptocurrency, and it launched back in 2009.
Bitcoin Brigade seems intentionally similar to a previous animated series from Kartoon Studios’ precursor A Squared Entertainment. Warren Buffett’s Secret Millionaires Club launched in 2011 to teach kids about financial literacy.
Taking that same approach could help to educate the next generation of consumers about Bitcoin, which many don’t understand well. Despite the cryptocurrency’s reported security risks, and the fact that it’s a risky investment due to the volatility of its value, the technology has potential, according to market research firm Grand View Research. The global cryptocurrency market, including Bitcoin, was valued at roughly US$5 billion in 2024 and is set to climb to US$11 billion by 2030.
This potential increase would need to be driven, in part, by increased adoption of the technology. For Bitkern, Bitcoin Brigade is a way to introduce kids to cryptocurrency, which could change how they think about finance, according to company co-founder Patrick Stich.
“Bitcoin is more than just a technology—it’s a movement that’s redefining how we think about money, ownership and innovation,” said Stich. “By collaborating with Kartoon Studios on Bitcoin Brigade, we’re creating an exciting way for kids to learn these ideas early and carry them into the future.”
