The shows all invite kids to jump in and participate, encouraging them to get crafty and cook at home, says digital SVP Jasmine Dawson.

BBC Studios is tapping into the mega-success of Bluey with co-commissions of four new short-form series that focus on food, music and play.

Kidscreen was the first to cover the news that BBC Studios Digital Brands was commissioning new original digital series for Bluey back in March. Now the Beeb is revealing what some of this content is.

The four series, commissioned by BBC Studios Digital Brands, BBC Studios Kids & Family and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, are Bluey Tunes, Bluey Puppets, Bluey Cookalongs and Bluey Fancy Restaurants, all 10 x roughly two to five minutes. The series are meant to let kids experience the joy and play at the heart of Bluey at home, says Jasmine Dawson, SVP of digital at BBC Studios—whether that’s making puppets or play-pretending as restaurateurs.

“We see consistently strong engagement with the makes and bakes we publish across our social channels,” says Dawson. “Our fans often share their bakes with us, so Bluey Cookalongs felt a natural extension to this. Similarly, we’ve seen how families are inspired by the games in Bluey. Fancy Restaurant felt like such a fun opportunity.”

The four shows will air on ABC iview (Australia), Disney Jr. Disney Chanel, Disney+ and will be available on the Bluey YouTube channel, which has 11.6 million subscribers and the Disney Jr. YouTube channel. Broadcasters have already started to roll out some of the content in the last few days, including Bluey Tunes and Bluey Puppets.

Bluey Tunes (A+C Studios and Insignificant TV) is a 10 x one- to two-minute series in which an animated background accompanies songs from the show. The first episode was released on YouTube.

Bluey Puppets (Simple Mischief Studio) is a crafting series of three- to five-minute episodes in which kids learn how to make puppets based on characters from the series alongside a current Sesame Street puppeteer. Each episode includes a downloadable sheet so families can make the crafts at home. An episode was released on July 24.

And live-action series Bluey Cookalongs (10 x five minutes) and Bluey Fancy Restaurant (10 x five- to eight-minutes) from Taste Creative Studio are food-focused series that tie into the Bluey brand’s official 2025 theme, Let’s Play Chef. Cookalongs, which will be released September 1, features real families recreating recipes from the series, with kids taking the lead in the kitchen. And Fancy Restaurant, which will debut October 14, features kids setting up their own version of a home restaurant from the show and providing a fun dining experience for their parents.

The new series follow up on the digital success BBC has had with Bluey, including more than 75 million views for the video series Bluey Book Reads. “We’re always thinking of ways we can offer something different, and these new short-form series feel a natural extension to our growth plans,” Dawson says.
