Toon Boom unveils new software at MIFA

Storyboard Pro 25 and Harmony 25 are built to support every stage of production, with new features such as smaller project files for faster loading.

Animation software maker Toon Boom has rolled out new Storyboard Pro 25 and Harmony 25 tools that are designed to support every stage of 2D production.

Storyboard Pro is a suite of pre-production tools for drawing and animatic creation, and its latest version offers users the ability to draw with the same brushes used in Photoshop (so the project shares the same look as it did during development) and a new interface for creating thumbnails.

Meanwhile, Harmony 25 has added compatibility with CG pipelines and a tool for fine-tuning character poses (pictured) to its array of options for producing 2D animation.

Both new products output smaller project files in order to reduce load and transfer times, which  can be especially handy when animators are working remotely, says Toon Boom.

These new updates are free for artists and studios with existing monthly or annual subscriptions. For new users, Harmony Premium is US$133 per month/US$1,080 per year, and Storyboard Pro comes in at US$75 per month/US$588 per year. (There are also discounted licenses for students and educational orgs.)

Toon Boom is used by clients in more than 140 countries, including Disney Television Animation and WildBrain. The company expanded its product catalogue in March with a suite of AI-powered tools called Ember, which is available as an add-on for both Storyboard Pro and Harmony for tasks like script breakdowns and upscale art resolution.
