  • Toonz Media Group and New York prodco NEW-GEN Universe are joining forces to turn a 2008 New-Gen comic series into a CG-animated series called New-Gen Nanobot Heroes. Toonz is financing, producing and distributing the 13 x 22-minute series globally. The series focuses on kids with superpowers who battle a genius alien. Ketchup Entertainment is distributing the series in the US.

  • ZeptoLab has teamed up with Legends of Learning to create six educational games for US schools inspired by ZeptoLab’s Cut the Rope brand. Legends of Learning, which develops curriculum-based video games for schools, will roll out the new titles next year. Cut the Rope is a 15-year-old franchise that started out as a game where players cut a rope to feed candy to tiny creatures, and has grown to include animation and consumer products. Legends of Learning has previously made similar licensing deals with Rovio for Angry Birds games. The platform hosts more than 2,000 games, with roughly 10 million teachers and students in the US using it, according to the company.

  • DeAPlaneta Entertainment has secured the media rights to Superprod Animation’s upcoming CG-animated reboot of Underdog (pictured, 52 x 11 minutes) in Spain, Portugal, and Central and Eastern Europe. The series is slated for a global launch this fall, and DeAPlaneta will further support the toon by also handling worldwide merchandising and brand licensing for the property.

  • IMG Licensing has secured three new apparel partners for the Mr. Bean brand in Japan. Good Speed, Hardcore Chocolate and Jetlink will begin rolling out new items for kids and adults later this year. Meanwhile, brand owner Banijay Kids & Family has extended its partnership with IMG to rep licensing for Mr. Bean in China, Taiwan and Macau.
