Great American Media’s flagship faith-based streamer Pure Flix is strengthening its offering for kids & family audiences with a new children’s content hub that just launched on Monday.
Called The Ark Club, this dedicated section already boasts a kids content library spanning thousands of hours of acquired titles. It’s primarily geared towards preschoolers at the moment, although it also offers a handful of series and films for six-plus, tweens and teens.
Pure Flix, which has more than a million subscribers in the US and Canada, launched in 2015. It was acquired by Sony Pictures Entertainment five years later and then merged with Texas-based Great American Media in 2023. Headed up by former Hallmark Channel boss Bill Abbott, GAM operates a raft of linear nets that specialize in faith-based content.
Released in time to reach its target audience as kids are heading into summer break, The Ark Club is an answer to what Abbott sees as a growing market demand. “We felt this was the perfect time to launch The Ark Club to underscore [Pure Flix] because families are increasingly looking for trusted, faith-based entertainment that speaks to their values,” he tells Kidscreen.
The hub is also expected to attract new subscribers and deepen engagement with family viewers. “Strategically, we’re combining beloved, recognizable titles like Veggietales with new original content like Iggy and Mr. Kirk to create something that feels both familiar and fresh,” Abbott adds.
The platform’s newest acquisition, Iggy and Mr. Kirk is a puppet-based series in which actor Kirk Cameron and an iguana teach faith-based values. This crowdfunded project from Texas FilmWorks/Brave Books debuted earlier this year and also streams on Angel.
But The Ark Club has plenty of content that lives outside the faith-focused genre, too, with popular franchises like Bob the Builder and The Wiggles represented in its catalogue.
The hub’s content is organized by themes such as Bible Stories, Furry Friends, Great Outdoor Adventures and Worship Sing-A-Longs. Other titles on offer include Bibleman: The Animated Adventures, Timber the Treasure Dog, Buck Denver & Friends, Sunny Bank the Garden Series and Horse Camp.
