A starter pack for their My Little Pony Card Game will hit retailers across Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu on April 26, with a wider global rollout planned for a later date.

Hasbro and Shanghai-based card manufacturer Kayou have partnered to co-develop a new trading card game built around the My Little Pony franchise.

My Little Pony Card Game will roll out in mainland China later this month, but a global launch is also being planned. In the meantime, players can get a first taste of the cards at launch tournaments and demo experiences to be held at specialty retailers across Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu on April 26 and May 3.

Leading the charge is Kayou’s Twilight Sparkle Starter Deck, which features 70 cards illustrated by renowned artists and Hasbro’s team of designers. Gameplay details are still a little under wraps, but each deck features mix of scene cards, story cards and character cards that give players points they need to win the game. They also come packaged with three promo booster packs so players can start to expand their collections before the first booster set drops later this year.

This launch expands on Hasbro’s existing partnership with Kayou, which has been producing and distributing trading card collections for My Little Pony, Transformers One and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in the APAC market since 2023. The company has also developed licensed trading cards for other kids franchises including SpongeBob SquarePants, Harry Potter, Snoopy and Hello Kitty & Friends.
