The shortlist for the 85th edition of the Peabody Awards has just has been revealed—and two acclaimed titles have made the cut in the Children’s/Youth category.

First up is Spirit Rangers, a Netflix preschool toon about three Native American siblings who transform into heroic animals to help protect a national park. Produced by Netflix Animation and Laughing Wild, this CG-animated series is notably the first US kids show created and showrun by a Native American (Karissa Valencia) with an all-Native writers room. Peabody highlighted the title for its “authentic, joyful and empowering representation” of Indigenous communities.

Coming-of-age Disney+ feature Out of My Mind is this year’s other nominated kids title. Based on a 2010 book by Sharon Draper, this live-actioner revolves around a young girl who is a nonverbal wheelchair user with cerebral palsy navigating sixth grade. Big Beach, Participant, EveryWhere Studios and Disney Branded TV produced this pic, which earned two standing ovations at last year’s Sundance Film Festival.

Meanwhile, a number of teen-friendly entries made the cut in the Immersive and Interactive Media category. Competing for the win are: Visai Games’ Venba (a narrative cooking game about an Indian mother and her family starting a new life in Canada); Awaceb’s Tchia (in which a young girl goes on an open-world adventure to rescue her dad); and What Does Racial Bias in Medicine Look Like?, an educational health-focused digital series hosted by Dr. Joel Bervell, who happens to be aging down his popular medical mythbusting content in an upcoming preschool show called The Doctor Is In.

The winners of the 2025 Peabody Awards will be revealed on May 1, and celebrated a month later with a ceremony at LA’s Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
