  • Distributor GKIDS has inked a deal to introduce season two of anime series Dan Da Dan via a global theatrical release. Co-producers Mainichi Broadcasting System, Animation Digital Network and Muse Communication are combining the season-one finale with three episodes from season two and footage from an exclusive interview with the show’s co-directors. This content package will launch in cinemas across 50 international regions, starting in Japan on May 30, North America on June 6 and Europe on June 7. Dan Da Dan is about two high-schoolers who investigate ghosts and aliens, and its second season is set to start streaming in July.

  • Viva Pictures has picked up US distribution rights to TAT Productions’ upcoming CG-animated film Pets on a Train (pictured), about a gang of small-time animal thieves who get caught up in a train heist gone wrong. Viva (whose recent kids releases include HitPig! and Night of the Zoopocalypse) will premiere Pets on a Train in US theaters on October 17. Kinology (international) and Apollo Films (France) are also distributing the pic.
  • Awesomeness TV has acquired the rights to an upcoming YA novel called Racing Hearts, which it plans to develop as a streaming-first movie for the same audience. The story is a romance about a competitive rower who gets a new coach, and the relationship that develops between them. Bantam Dell is publishing the book by Ann Adams in spring 2026, and Awesomeness has teamed up with LYLAS Pictures (Tangles) to produce the film, with a script in the works from Tamara Chestna (Moxie).
