Disney is turning to the social networking space to promote the November 23rd release of The Muppets feature film. The House of Mouse has partnered with social iPhone app Viddy to insert the characters into 15-second customizable video clips.

The Muppets Pack allows users to create personalized interactive video clips with characters like Kermit, Fozzie Bear, Animal and Miss Piggy. The videos are meant to be shared via Viddy, as well as with communities on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Tumblr.

Also launching today is Muppets.Viddy.com, a hub where Muppet fans can view the handy work of the app’s users.

Aside from its novel appeal, the initiative underscores just how much studios are leveraging social networking campaigns to drum up awareness for their upcoming feature flicks.
