Hasbro and Electronic Arts are ramping up the Littlest Pet Shop online experience. Hasbro will release an expanded Littlest Pet Shop Online (LPSO) toy lineup to retail this month while EA is set to launch a new virtual pet collection program within LPSO.com.
Littlest Pet Shop Online, which launched by EA in September 2009, will have two new toys join its fall lineup that will allow girls to extend their mini-doll collections while also granting virtual benefits when they enter special codes included with toy purchases.
The LPSO Dancing Dog (US$24.99), a dancing pet that plugs into the computer or an MP3 player, and the LPSO Starter Pack, which features up to six of in-game characters priced at US$9.99 apiece, will hit virtual shelves this month. EA’s upcoming LPSO.com Collect- a-Pet program will feature a series of in-game activities and challenges that must be completed to unlock new reward pets. All three additional offerings speak to the brand’s focus on interactive play and collectability.
