Kids social media platform Betweened is activating a new initiative that will give a leg up to creators making content for this audience.
Founded by Netflix alum Carla Engelbrecht, Betweened rolled out in November 2023 and curates family-friendly content designed to appeal to four- to 13-year-olds.
The platform’s new creator program, which Engelbrecht announced on LinkedIn this morning, will support creators working in the kids & family space by organizing workshops and networking opportunities, and providing guidance on how to grow their audience reach and monetize their content.
Initially, the program will support up to 25 creators, each of which will receive a stipend of around US$250. But the goal is to increase the number of participants and the stipend frequency over time. Betweened is also aiming to have 10 paid sponsors on board by the end of the year that will provide additional monetization opportunities.
“We’re eager to work with creators of all skill levels on any living room-friendly content topics,” Engelbrecht says, adding that the platform has been growing its user base at a rate of 24.5% a month on average and is on track to hit 10,000 users by next year.
Betweened has already attracted more than 75 creators who have provided videos with more than 100,000 streams that are currently running on the platform. They include Mychal the Librarian and Sand Castle University (who each have more than 800,000 followers on other platforms), as well as several other family creators in the 20,000-to-100,000 follower range.
Creators who are interested in the program can apply through this web portal.
