- LA’s Stars Collective has optioned the film and TV rights to Shawn Warner’s YA book Leigh Howard and the Ghosts of Simmons-Pierce Manor, a #1 Amazon Charts Bestseller. Black Rose Writing publishes this title about a teen who teams up with a ghost with multiple personalities to solve the case of her parents’ murder. Founded in 2020, Stars Collective is managing the Chinese distribution and L&M rights to The Garfield Movie, which is due out in theaters on May 24.
- The Media Pioneers has picked up North American and European (excluding France) distribution rights to Japanese studio Tezuka Productions’ 2019 animated series Go Astro Boy Go! (pictured, 52 x 13 minutes). Aimed at kids ages four to seven, this spinoff pits the young robot against ecological disasters and human-driven environmental crises. The Astro Boy brand started as a manga series from Osamu Tezuka in the ’50s, and has since earned more than US$2.6 billion in worldwide merch sales.
