Spin Master has hired former Comcast NBCUniversal exec David Voss to fill a newly created EVP of global toy design and development position.
Working out of the LA office, Voss starts next month and will oversee manufacturing strategy, inventor relations, visual branding and packaging design for everything in Spin Master’s toy brand portfolio. He reports to global president and CEO Max Rangel.
Voss has more than 20 years of experience in the kids entertainment industry and previously managed iconic toy brands such as Hot Wheels, Barbie, Toy Story and WWE while serving in senior leadership roles at Mattel (SVP and executive producer) and Hasbro (VP of design). He joins Spin Master following a five-year stint as SVP of global product design, consumer products and parks & retail for Comcast NBCUniversal. During his tenure there, he oversaw product development teams working across toys, hardlines and publishing.
Spin Master is in the midst of restructuring its toy division leadership as Chris Beardall prepares to retire in January as president of toys and chief commercial officer. The company’s current head of global toy brands, Doug Wadleigh, is set to take on Beardall’s responsibilities in the new year.
