Air Bud collars the NFT market

They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but Air Bud Entertainment (ABE) is looking to disprove this adage with a planned entry into the NFT space.

The LA-based company has teamed up with NFT production studio Mint Werx and blockchain tech provider Vivid Labs to launch Air Bud Entertainment Collectibles—a kid-safe, fan-driven online platform featuring collectible and tradeable NFTs based on iconic characters from ABE’s long-running Air Bud franchise, which includes Disney’s Air Bud and Air Buddies feature films and Netflix series Pup AcademyScaredy Cats and SuperPupz.

New platform members will be able to access a limited-time offer for a special Air Bud token, exclusive artwork and a free NFT trading card (pictured) featuring a character from the latest SuperPupz season, which launched March 31 on Netflix.

Members will also be able to attend exclusive real-life events and experiences, but ABE hasn’t revealed any details about what these are going to look like, or what a community membership will cost.

The platform is set to launch at the end of this month at NFT.AirBud.com. And it won’t require blockchain expertise or cryptocurrency, making it easier for kids and families less familiar with NFTs to navigate, according to a release.

ABE’s entry into the NFT space comes a day after kids prodco Bureau Of Magic (Lost in Oz) pulled the curtain back on its own blockchain/NFT platform Passport to Oz. And they’re both joining a rapidly growing contingent of kid-focused studios that have also entered this digital market recently, including Moonbug/Zigazoo, Artkive and Exploding Kittens.
