The Jim Henson Company has optioned Rebecca Green’s book How to Make Friends with a Ghost and will turn it into a stop-motion animated series for kids ages five to nine.

The project is currently in development with Henson steering the process, and Factory (Clangers) has been confirmed to handle the animation. How to Make Friends with a Ghost takes place at an after-school program, where a teacher and an affable spirit haunting the classroom help a group of kids and critters make friends with their fears.

Episodes will be 11 minutes long, but Henson hasn’t determined yet how many of them will make up the format, according to a spokesperson at the company.

How to Make Friends with a Ghost will be executive produced by Lisa Henson and Halle Stanford for Henson, along with Phil Chalk for Factory. Henson’s director of children’s television Kait Boss is shepherding the project, with longtime collaborator Ashley Griffis attached as a co-executive producer and writer.

The book was first published in 2017 by Tundra Books and is available in 10 languages across 12  territories.

This marks the latest in a bunch of book-to-series projects for Henson, which recently announced it was working on Harriet the Spy for Apple TV+ and adapting Karen Katz’s book The Colors of Us into a TV series called Lena!
