The newly branded preschool channel Disney Junior, which launches in the UK on May 7, is set to debut an updated version of the classic arts and crafts series Art Attack across its television, online, publishing, consumer products, home entertainment and retail platforms.
Art Attack, a co-production between Disney Europe and Disney Channel Latin America, will provide new localized content for key markets as Disney Junior rolls out across EMEA this year. The UK channel has commissioned 26 half-hour episodes hosted by Jassa Ahluwalia for the first series, with a further 26 going into production later this year. Across the region, an additional 11 local versions will be produced for Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Portugal, India, Argentina and Brazil.
Art Attack will retain some elements from the original show while introducing new characters to a new Disney Junior audience. Also new is an integrated website and exclusive video clips will be streamed on Disney Junior’s YouTube channel to coincide with the show’s launch in June. Content will also be available across a number of VOD platforms.
The series will also be showcased in Disney Junior magazine across Europe, Middle East and Africa. Plans for consumer products and home entertainment will also be developed in 2012 as the series rolls out globally. The series falls in line with Disney Junior’s European strategy of investing in tailored content for local audiences.
