ABC3, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s dedicated children’s channel, is marking its first birthday with two Australian Film Industry (AFI) Awards.

Last week at the AFI Awards, three of ABC3’s locally made drama series My Place, Dance Academy and Dead Gorgeous were nominated in the Best Children’s Drama category with My Place taking home the award, alongside animated eco-friendly series dirtgirlworld, which won the award for Best Children’s Television Animation.

On the ratings front, the second series of ABC3’s entertainment program Prank Patrol has doubled its audience from series one, and now attracts a 23.4% share of children ages five to 12 on Free-to-Air Television.
